Eat these foods for a glowing skin



‘You are what you eat’ is the phrase we hear all our lives but do we really implement in this in our lives? This phrase is not just a phrase but the secret to most of the problems we face. We have acne issues, there are food that will relieve you of acne. You are overweight, you need to cut down your extra calories and just eat healthy. Likewise, if you want a flawless skin, you need consume these foods.

1-      Tomatoes

These are loaded with antioxidants that protects our skin from a number of problems like acne, rashes as well as ageing. Antioxidants neutralizes free radicals in our blood. These free radicals are the cause of cell damage. So, add up your tomatoes in your meals.

2-      Green tea

Just like tomatoes, green tea has tons of antioxidants as well as anti inflammatory and anti-tumor properties.

3-      Fatty fish

Fatty fish like salmon are good source of omega 3 fatty acids that are one of your best food choices for maintaining skin health. Without omega 3 fatty acids, your skin will be dry.

Not only that but fatty fish have several antioxidants and vitamin E that protects you from skin inflammation.

How can I forget to mention, zinc? Zinc is another good mineral that is vital for skin health. It produces new skin cells, reduces inflammation and cares for your skin like no other.

4-      Carrot

Carrots has loads and loads of beta-carotene which is responsible for the carrot color. It is an antioxidant that prevent cell and DNA damage. So, are you adding your carrots to your salad and meals? If not, then you should be.

5-      Papayas

Aren’t they sweet? Apart from being sweet, they have enzymes called papain and chymopapain. Also, vitamins A, C, and B, and dietary fiber are present as well. What they do is they improve digestion and blood pressure. Good digestion means you are flushing out all the toxins from your body leading to a glowy skin. By normalizing your blood pressure, it will slow down aging as well.

6-      Avocadoes

These are healthy fats that are going to keep your skin flexible as well as moisturized. Avocadoes are high in vitamin E and C. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant that protects your skin. Vitamin C is an essential component for your skin. It makes collages that keeps your skin strong and healthy. When Vitamin E is combined with Vitamin C, it becomes even more effective.

7-      Dark Chocolate

According to a recent study, after 6-12 weeks of consuming cocoa powder, individual’s skin was less scaly and rough. Also, more blood flows which brings nutrients to your skin.

8-      Garlic

It a phenomenal item that was used as antibiotic for so many years. It has vitamin B and C and many minerals with antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, by eating garlic, you are flushing out toxins, preventing skin rashes and fighting skin infections.

9-      Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are enriched with beta carotene that makes your skin healthy.
As long as you are going to treat your inside well, your outside will shine.

As mentioned in the last blog about all the food that can help with the acne, here is the list of foods and the reasons why they can cause you to breakout.

It’s best to avoid or use in limited amounts if you have a lot of breakouts and have an important event to go to.
 

1-      Sugar




The major contributor to your breakout is sugar. The refined sugar is a major cause for inflammation, yeast overgrowth as well as hormonal fluctuations. Better substitutions are dark chocolate if you have a craving. Honey is another good option.
 

2-      Diary

Diary can be a source that triggers acne and promotes redness and swelling since diary is an inflammatory. It can be problem for those lactose intolerance. You better watch out. Otherwise, be aware of skin eruptions.



Main culprit in diary is cow’s milk. It triggers breakouts. You can switch to almond milk or coconut milk.
 

3-      Gluten

Another one is gluten which is a mixture of two proteins. This can trigger inflammation and stomach imbalance which can be visible to the skin. As they say, you are what you eat. Literally that applies. So, be mindful of what you put in that body of yours.
 

4-      Peanut butter



If you are a peanut butter lover like I am, you sure are going to be disappointed. I am for sure. The reason is that it contains added sugar and hydrogenated oil that fuels the breakout and inflammation.
 

5-      Nightshade vegetables

Surprising, right? These are so nutritious and healthy but also a source of inflammation. The reasons being the presence of solanine that is inflammatory.


Night shade vegetables includes potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes, tobacco. Although, more evidence is needed to support this argument. 


 

6-      Processed Foods

The key to a glowing and wonderful skin is to avoid processed foods.

Acne causes are abundant. Although, the main guilty party here is the excess sebum, hormones, and bacteria. We all can discuss the reasons but that’s not what we want. We want solutions. Don't we? 


So, good news for all those people who suffer from acne issue and have not found a permanent solution yet. I bring you the solution  and that requires only eating. ;) 

Healthy eating, of course.

Yes, but before moving on to that part, some tiny bits of advice's: -
  • Before going to sleep, wash your face!
  • Avoid touching your face specially do not touch your pimples.
  • Specially to all the girls and ladies, clean your make-up before going to bed. Saves you from a lot of problems.

Now, heading on to the food solutions: -
 

Zinc

According to some research, it has been found that people with lower levels of zinc have higher risk for acne.

You can have zinc supplements after consultation with your nutritionist. Also, add high zinc food items in your diet. These includes nuts, whole grains and beans. Dark chocolate is also a good source of zinc.




 

Green Tea

Green tea consists of polyphenols that help reduce skin inflammations as well as sebum production. In addition to that, more oxygen and blood flow to the skin.

Turmeric

Presence of Curcumin reduces bacteria production which is the one of the main cause of acne.
 

Omega 3 fatty acids

Another one that can reduce skin inflammation. Skin inflammation is a culprit for skin issues.
Omega 3 sources are seafood’s.
 

Antioxidants

According to research, antioxidants reduces the extent of time of breakout lasts. Not only that its fights with the damage a sun exposure can do.
