What to eat in sehri/suhoor?
During this blissful time, it is important that you keep yourself hydrated as well properly nourished. Today’s blog is all about what to eat and what not to eating during the sehri time.
Some of the food items listed below are full of nutrients and will provide you with energy. These are food groups that you must add in your sehri.
Fruits and Vegetables
Why? Because despite being full of nutrients, they will make you feel full and prevents constipation.
Fiber rich foods
Brown rice or whole wheat bread takes longer to digest and so will help you maintain energy for longer time. . Fiber will turn into
gel in your stomach which will slow down digestion, lowers cholesterol and
blood glucose. A perfect choice to keep you energized during the day.
Protein rich
This includes eggs and meat. Not only good for your body’s health but also keeps you full for longer periods.
Dairy products
Being rich in calcium makes them a good source of nutrition. Also, yogurt keeps your thirst pangs away.
What not to eat in sehri/suhoor?
Since, we are talking about what to eat, let’s not forget what you should avoid in sehri.
Salt.
It causes not only bloating but increases your thirst too. They will imbalance
sodium levels in the body that will make you thirsty while fasting. Say no to
salted nuts, pickles and chops. Also, the food that contains soy sauce.
Caffeinated Drinks
These are diuretics will make you dehydrated. Also. leads to insomnia and restlessness.
Simple or refined carbs.
This include white flour, donuts, sugar and pastries. They last only 3 -4 hours
in the body.
