How much do we need to eat every day?
Since, in my last blogs we talked about the “why’s” and the “what’s”.
Now, in this blog, we will move further and talk about the “how much’s”. Yes,
this blog is all about how much of a macro nutrient or a certain food group, you
should be consuming every single day.
Meal planning is not that hard and complicated as we tend to
make it. It’s simple yet a variety of food choices are present within it, if we
stay to the basics (which we tend to avoid). So here are the basic macro nutrients with their daily servings per day that is recommended for a
healthy life.
Now let’s talk how much you need to eat from all the food
groups.
Carbohydrates
About six servings a day is a must but don’t cross 11
servings per day.
Proteins
2 to 3 servings are required per day.
Fruits
About 2 to 4 medium apple size fruits are recommended. It
depends up on the serving. A medium size apple is about a tennis ball size (we
shall talk about serving sizes in details in the next blog).
Vegetables
About three to five servings are required.
Milk
2 to 3 glasses of milk are recommended specially for growing
ages.
Fat
No fixed amount has been recommended as of yet. But it is
recommended that it must be used in small amounts.
