RICE IS NOT A FATTENING FOOD!

RICE IS NOT A FATTENING FOOD!

Whenever someone is planning to go on a diet, they tend to cut down rice. Including myself. I was told and believed that rice was not good for the weight.

I loved rice and still do which is why I decided to do a blog about this myth that rice makes you fat.

So, rice is known to be a fattening food item. It is considered an evil food for those who want to lose weight. Well, truth to be told, no food is evil and no food is as such fattening, it depends up on the amount we are consuming.

Portion size matters. Rice is a blessing to be honest. It makes everything taste so good. Biryani being on top on the list. Chinese rice. I can keep taking names but that’s not why I am righting the blog.

So back to the topic. do you know that 1/3 cup of rice is equal to one bread? It has the same calories as bread. However, we tend to forget how much a 1/3 cup is, right? What we do is we fill our plates, we are not counting how much we are putting in our plate and next day we look in a mirror and are surprised to see a swelled face. If you consume 10 breads in a day specially at dinner time, then its highly possible that you are going to gain weight despite how much you exercise. Remember, excessive of anything is bad for you.

However, rice are simple carbohydrates. It means that they are digested quickly and are absorbed quickly. Therefore, nutritionist suggest you to have rice in the afternoon so you can easily burn those calories by your routine work.

So, bottom line is that rice is not fattening food! It’s how much you are consuming that matters. Next time, you have rice, try to measure the amount you’re putting in your plate and try to have it in lunchtime rather than in dinner.
