Flax seeds are tiny oil seeds that are either brown or yellow in appearance. Flax seeds have shown to lower blood pressure. In a Canadian study, people who ate 30gram of flax seeds daily for six months had lower systolic and diastolic pressure by 10mmHg and 7mmHg.
In another eleven studies, those who took flax seeds daily for about three months, had their blood pressure lowered by 2 mmHg.

Flax seeds contain plant based protein that contains amino acids arginine, aspartic acid and glutamic acid.

Few studies indicated that type 2 diabetic patients who consumed 10-20 grams of flaxseed powder daily for about a month had their blood sugar levels reduced by 8-10%.
This effect is due to the presence of insoluble fiber content in flaxseeds. Insoluble fiber helps slow the release of sugar into the bloodstream. Thereby, reducing blood sugar levels.
 

6-      Omega 3 fatty acids

Flaxseeds contain omega 3 acids which have inflammatory effects. Not only that but omega 3 in flaxseeds help fight osteoporosis which will reduce the risk of bone fractures.

Flaxseed help in digestion and improve bowel movement. The effect is due to the presence of insoluble and soluble fibers in flaxseeds. Soluble fiber aids in softening of the stool so it can be easily eliminated from the body, whereas, insoluble fibers aids in stimulation of digestive system to move waste through the gut and promotes bowel regularity.
